New figures show the nation’s Missouri unemployment rate continues the same, hanging over 9 % since Apr. People in Congress through both sides requested action – but neither side can agree on where to start.

The act, proposed to Congress recently from the President, demands considerable paying for system enhancements, extension of a payroll tax minimize handed a year ago, and continuation of long-term Missouri unemployment benefits.

“The economy will only continue to worsen if we do not act quickly to address it,” stated Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver, chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, D-Kansas City. “To stand by and allow our nation’s economic condition to deteriorate in the name of politics with the hopes of winning an election is outrageous. It is time for the American people to stand up and demand that the American Jobs Act is considered and passed immediately.”

“Missouri families can’t afford to wait thirteen months until the election. That’s why I won’t stop fighting for the investments we need to grow the economy and create jobs now,” said Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis.

Obama’s legislation looks others from Republicans who have referred to as it “Stimulus 2.0.”

“[It is] more about 2012 politics as compared to it is regarding 2011 legislating, and it is the same concepts that generated no excellent outcomes with the $800 billion so-called ‘stimulus plan,’” U.S. Senator Roy Blunt stated.

Carnahan and Cleaver both reported it is the Republicans which are trying to play politics.

“I never thought I would see the day that politics trumped legislative productivity-providing policy solutions that create opportunities for the American people so that they can care for themselves and their families,” Cleaver said.

Republicans, like Blunt and Harrisonville Rep. Vicky Hartzler, have called for regulating relief and verse of trade agreements to help spur job growth.
